Wonderfu Hot Romance

I'm not a great reader of erotic romance because in the past I've found the genre to be all sex and no story. The cover of Reckless attracted me to the book, so I thought I'd give it a try as I hadn't read anything by the author before. What a fantastic surprise I had when I started reading. I love the author's writing style. The descriptions are lyrical and transported me to Spain. Reckless is a well crafted story with an interesting plot and wonderfully well-drawn characters. I loved Nicolas--the mysterious brother. And Katrina Hammond was a satisfying heroine to follow through the book as she grew in confidence. I recommend this book wholeheartedly. I have now bought another of Saskia Walker's novels and I look forward to reading that one soon.

3.5 stars for me. I had trouble deciding between 3 and 4 stars.

It was well done and enjoyable. I can't say "I really liked it" which is my definition for 4 stars, but I found the romance sensual and fulfilling, and I loved Nicolas, so I rounded up to 4. I enjoyed Katrina's attraction to the two brothers and how it evolved. Story Brief: Katrina works for an auction house in London. Sergio hires her to come to his home in Spain to value and sell his family's huge art collection. He needs the money to support his father Jorge who is in a hospice. Sergio tells Katrina that his brother Nicolas is the black sheep of the family and has been disinherited. Katrina is attracted to Sergio and goes to Spain. While there she meets and is also attracted to Nicolas. Nicolas tells her a different story. There is mystery and danger as the truth eventually comes out. Story length: 309 pages. Sexual language: strong. Number of sex scenes: 9. Length of sex scenes: from 1.5 to 7.7 pages. Total number of sex scene pages: 38.5. Katrina Hammond has always led a well ordered life. She has followed a well-planned path and meeting all her marked "stepping" points in accordance to her time-table. She succeeded in her academic career and then moved on to pursue her dream of becoming a respected valuation expert in a well known auction house, just like her father had been. However, Katrina has had the mother of all wake-up calls when she caught her "perfect" and eminently suitable fiancé cheating on her, which has made her realize that she has been living her entire life within a very confining box. Now, Katrina is on the hunt for an adventure, one that includes lots of hot and sweaty sex, and her newest client, Sergio Teodoro, seems to be the perfect candidate and well as a professional coup de grace she need to move up the ladder. Sergio Teodoro has exerted all his Latin charm in engaging Katrina's interest in the family's art collection and in himself. Sergio plans to use all his charm, and he hopes, sexual expertise as a distraction tactic to keep Katrina away from aspects of his family and their art collection that he doesn't want discovered. Nicolas Teodoro has been estranged from his father for years and his brother Sergio has been the most significant wedge between them. When Nicolas discovers that Sergio plans to sell off their father's prized art collection, he feels the need to talk to his father and confirm that this action is his wish. However, Nicolas is unable to find his father and his brother keeps stone-walling him. So, in order to buy some time, Nicolas is willing to do anything to distract Katrina from completing her job until Nicolas can find his father and get the truth of the matter. As Katrina finds herself in the middle of the brothers' struggle, she must try and decipher if all these seduction attempts are distraction ploys or do they have some real intent behind them... Who is the sincere brother? Is there one at all that she can trust? Reckless is an erotic romp in the Spanish countryside that will weave a sensual veil over you from the get-go. Saskia Walker is an undisputed master in erotic romance and this book should please her fans. However, I found that the main focus in the book was Katrina's sudden "sexual awakening" and her daring behavior in pursuing pleasure. From having masturbatory sex in her office with a client while her ex-fiancé watches, to being a voyeur to a gay sexual encounter between some secondary and minor characters, Katrina's character felt like a caricature of the woman she says she wants to become. Most of the plot revolves around Katrina's sexual encounters with the Teodoro brothers and how it affects her judgment as a "modern" and "independent" woman. The brothers' macho, and sometimes caveman-like, behavior is unexpectedly irritating, as I usually enjoy Alpha male characters. The opportunity for this change of heart presents itself in the form of Sergio Teodora, A Spanish businessman who wants Katrina to price his father's art collection. Dark, desirable, and handsome, Sergio is used to being in control as well as controlling. Convincing Katrina to come to his villa in Spain to price an art collection of his father's is a piece of cake. Or so he thinks. It seems that Sergio has underestimated his brother, Nicolas. Nicolas is the disinherited black sheep of the Teodora family and must depend on secret phone calls from staff members to find out what is going on with his family. Receiving a frantic phone call from his father's housekeeper concerning an art collection has Nicolas making plans. The first thing he needs to accomplish? Meeting and checking out Katrina Hammond. Katrina is thrilled to be in Spain. Carefree and excited, she looks forward to seeing Sergio again. That withstanding, she isn't above having a good time near her hotel with the playful holiday party participant dressed as a demon. Things come to a head when Nicolas reveals himself and Katrina finds herself torn between two lovers as well as brothers. RECKLESS is unique and unlike any romance I have ever read. Fully expecting champagne and roses and instances of erotic naughtiness, I was pleasantly surprised to witness dark, compelling, and sibling rivalry. Sergio was the brother in control and his desire to possess Katrina bordered on obsessive. He needed her for his agenda while Nicolas' desire for Katrina was not agenda driven. What starts out as a way to get back at his older brother turns into so much more with each love scene with Katrina. Saskia Walker is a genius because the turn of events in RECKLESS shocked me completely. Arousing, enigmatic, and compelling, I highly recommend RECKLESS. If a dark romance with many suspenseful and surprising moments is what you crave, then RECKLESS is the book for you!
