Reckless Flirtation by Helen Brooks (Harlequin Presents #136, 08/2000)

What a great story! I could tell it was a Harlequin Presents due to the subdued, modest love scenes - this is definitely not a bodice-ripper! But I found the characters to be delightfully human and flawed, the plotline compelling, and the ending ... well the ending was literally breathtaking! And so I rate it five stars, and recommend! I could see this one being made into a Lifetime movie ... I think you'll enjoy it! Description from the book back cover: "The more I see of you, the more I want you ..." Jacques Challier's outrageous declaration took Sandi's breath away, but she didn't trust him! He saw her as a challenge, nothing more. Marriage wasn't in the cards, and an affair was out of the question ... Besides, Jacques was the enemy. His wealthy family had shunned Sandi's vulnerable, pregnant younger sister - and Jacques must have been part of the conspiracy. So how dared he now tempt Sandi with his teasing charm?
