This story's protagonist is a feisty little girl who loves to play with her favorite doll and also enjoys riding her bike and skateboard, proving that those are not boy's things.
The language flows effortlessly in this little book. Since the birth of my daughter, I have searched for Spanish children's books with language that is clever and natural. As a native Spanish speaker I have found it difficult to find books that don't sound like text-book Spanish. This one flows freely and rolls right off the tongue. It certainly helps that it was originally written in Spanish. This is a fun book with language that is commonly used, yet will incorporate some new words for those just learning Spanish. It is simple and easy to read with fun, colorful illustrations. The only problem is that with only ten pages, it ends too quickly.
Finally, a delightful rhyming book in Spanish!

I've been looking everywhere for cute rhyming books in Spanish to read to my 2-year old daughter. Most of the Spanish-translated-from-English children's books I've come across (Sandra Boynton, etc) are just too clumsy for a fun read. This book reads trippingly off the tongue, with no more than four words per page. Plus, it contains adorable and age-appropriate illustrations of a little girl (Rebeca) as she rides her bike, waters a pot of flowers, zooms on a skateboard, croons a lullaby to her dolly, and generally enjoys being a kid with her dog. It's quite short, but perfect for a "read-out-loud" book for toddlers and preschoolers or an "I-can-read" book for slightly older children.
