The principles of being a hero are eternal principles and they apply to every walk of life. They are not unique to any one field or profession. What makes them unique, is when a person internalizes them and makes them a part of who he is. That's when he begins to stand out. That's when another hero is born. In 1978, Captain Benny Click of the Phoenix Police Department told us, "Courage is the ability to move, when all around you are frozen in fear, and no one would blame you, if you did nothing at all." It's a true statement and it applies to every area of our life and to every person involved in life. Though the video games are designed to make our children feel like heroes, they are in reality, a sleeping pill to their subconscious mind and a robber of their dreams and a robber of their chances to be who they came to this life to be. They teach them nothing about what it takes to be a true hero, yet they occupy hundreds, if not thousands of their waking hours. They fill their minds with violence and make-believe and give them nothing in return. Though this book is not an attack on video games, it is a collection of true stories, truths, examples and hero principles. It is a "How to" book on what it takes to be a true hero in life. The stories are quick, interesting, fun to read and are accompanied with a hero principle that shapes the mind in a heroes path. They help the person, young or old, who dreams of being a hero someday, by showing him what it takes to be a real hero in life. The kind of hero that others look up to, admire and want to be like. As a police chaplain, I have attended numerous funerals of fallen officers. Truth is, we all die. Sometimes that makes a difference to others, sometimes it doesn't. Whether or not it does, depends on who you chose to be ...and how you lived.
