Makes sense out of Learning to Read

As an early childhood educator and an instructor of teachers, I have found this book invaluable. It focuses on the real way children learn to read--by reading, looking at books, signs, and using contextual clues. Many teachers and parents say "Well, she is not really reading. She memorized the book." This book explains why this is often the first step toward reading and gives teachers the vocabulary to explain reading to parents as well. I have recommended this book over and over again.
