Great Text for Active Reading

Reading for Meaning is a great ESL book designed to help students read by taking them through the actual process of reading. This includes skimming and scanning, predicting,understanding main ideas, and making inferences. Each chapter is centered around a theme(such as Health,Law and Justice, etc.)and deals with a variety of subjects that are not only interesting, but also relevant to the lives of ESL students. I strongly recommend this book to any teacher searching for a beginning/intermediate text for her students, as well as to any students that wish to improve their reading skills on their own.
