Love these books

My daughter is 3-1/2 and has been wanting to learn to read since she was 2-1/2. We've been nurturing her and working with her this past year, but I felt we needed to take it to the next level. I have fond memories of these books when I was a little girl and thought they might be good books to try and teach her how to read. I just bought this book, along with 11 other D & J books the other day and the first night I read her this book, she started sounding out the words, forming the words and reading the pages in the book! Yesterday was day 2 of reading of this book and she got through 13 pages with little help from me. She was stumped on a few words like "Said" where the "ai" makes a short "e" sound instead of short "a" and "i" sound separately. Not only am I pleased, but my daughter LOVES these books and from the minute I got home last night, she wanted me to read them to her/her read them to me. I am so glad I got these books. She lights up when she gets a word right and it encourages her and build her self esteem --- "I CAN READ". She had to call grandma and nani last night to tell them she read 13 pages in her Dick and Jane book. I know they say these are sight books, but my daughter isn't memorizing them, she's actually sounding them out and using Phonics to read. These books offer easy words for preschool kids to learn to sound out and form the word. Major thumbs up for our family!

LOVES TO READ

MY DAUGHTER LOVES TO READ AND LOVES TO TAKE HER BOOKS TO SCHOOL FOR SHOW-N-TELL. I REMEBER THESE BOOKS AS A CHILD AND THOUGHT THEY WOULD BE GOOD FOR HER.

Brought back many memories when I was young, love to read them to my kids, my kids think they are goofy, but I love the Dick and Jane series!!

All Schools Should Have These Books For Early Reading !

I learned how to read from the "Dick & Jane" books....1960's They are fun to read. This is why I purchased this book and other "Dick & Jane" books for my now [...] son. I just received the book(s) in the mail two days ago. My [...] son has picked up on the words and stories very quickly. His confidence has built up in the last two days...he enjoys reading these books. He will be reading these books all summer long. When he starts Kindergarten in September, i'm sure his school teacher will be impressed. BRING THESE BOOKS BACK INTO THE SCHOOLS!
