A must-have for reading groups whose members love Jacqueline Susann as much as John Steinbeck and Cosmopolitans as much as chamomile tea. Read It and Eatis a hip, witty, and occasionally irreverent... This description may be from another edition of this product.

A Novel Idea

What a great idea! Most book clubs eat something while they're discussing their read, so this is great. I love the themed months, and there's just the right amount of choices (about 5-6, I think) to not overwhelm the reader. The suggested questions are a bit weak, but could work.

Not engaging like other similar reads, but a great reference!

Great book for a book club, entertaining or if you are an English teacher! If you don't fit into any of the above categories, the recipes are quite good but the style of writing is not entertaining. A little like reading a textbook but with 'dinner and a movie' taglines with the related recipes.

Great Book Club Selections & Food to Match!

What a great book for book clubs or to help jump start your reading! This book is a guide to monthly reading suggestions for your book club, and offers 4 different books to read each month along with recipes that go along great with the action of the book. Also included are 4 bonus chapters for additional ideas as well. Each month offers a theme including: "Not-So-Lazy Summer Reads" for August, "Change Your World" for January's New Year's resolutions, and "Celebrate Banned Books Week" in September. After a synopsis of each book, you will find thought provoking questions for your book club discussion, or just to spark thought if you have read the book on your own. To go along with the book, the author offers several great recipes that she suggests are brought to the book club discussion...a great bonus so that you don't have the usual cake and cookies fare after your meeting! Pick up this book if you are in a book club, or if you want to find a great book to read each month. Then treat yourself to a meal that reminds you of each great selection. Enjoy!

Just what our reading group needed!!

I read the review for this book in Pages Magazine and purchased it for my reading group (we've been together for about 2 years.) I brought the book to our meeting last week, along with the "Vintage Junk Food" chocolate cake. What a big hit! The recipes are easy and delicious, we LOVED the book selections and the discussion questions are both fun and interesting. What a great book! I highly recommend it! I'll be using some of the ideas to get my high school students excited about reading. I also purchased a subscription to the author's newsletter, The Literary Gathering, for my school's library.

Yes! Just the kind of book we need.

There should be more of these books with suggested reading and tempting recipes. This particular one is chock full of book suggestions for the entire year with discussion questions for each book PLUS delicious tasting recipes to set the theme of the book. Love this idea of a book - so much to it - we need more of these!
