Reaching Past the Wire: A Nurse at Abu Ghraib

Excellent reading for all. This book was well put together and truly helped me understand what a nurse working on the front line during times of war is exposed to both mentally and physically. Page after page the author, Deanna, shows us what the true definition of what a nurse really is and what all nurses should strive to achieve. If you want to read a book that's impossible to put down till it's finished If your a nurse looking for inspiration. Even if you're not a nurse. Most of all, if you are looking for that, "written from the heart kinda book", this books for you. By far the best book I've ever read. 5 stars plus more!!! Well done Deanna, well done...

Reaching Past The Wire

Great reading. You really have to admire her. News coverage what a bunch of BS.

Reaching Past The Wire: A Nurse At Abu Ghraib

This story helped me to understand what it feels like to be a soldier and a nurse during war time. I would highly recommend it to nurses especially as it make you stop and think about the ethics of war time nursing. The book is and excellent read for non medical people as well. Plenty of heart stopping moments. It is also a very quick read as I was able to finish it in a weekend. The story never stops moving. Be sure to keep your Kleenex handy.

Thank you Deanna for sharing your experience.

This is a very well written book. I know anyone who starts reading it will not want to put it down. The friendships she made are amazing.

Great Insight, courage and bravery from the author!

This book was great! It provided insight into a place that you hear about on the outside via news, but never are really sure what is going on in the inside. It was interesting to hear about the interaction between Deanna and the prisoners and the translators. I thought the translators were described in a way that was very real and they seem like very courageous men. A great memoir of a difficult time! Thanks to the author for sharing these important memories with us!
