I wish we had this book when we were raising our sons. It has been so easy for so many of us to see the wrong in our society and in our youth. I see this book by Jamie Lee as a beginning to help us see the right in our youth. I have hopes that my sons will see the value in the book in the continuing adventure of raising their children - our grandchildren.

In these days of school shootings, drug abuse, and cultural malaise, raising young children can be a scary thing. Fortunately, here is a guide to help us navigate the tricky waters of adolescence. Jamie Lee has identified the personal and social benefits of providing a clear-cut rite of passage to adulthood. She delves into life and multi-cultural experience, extensive study, and deep thought to lay out the basic elements of meaningful rites of passage, and gives us a basis on which to begin to build our own. I rejoice that I found this book while my own sons are young. It's a must read for anyone with children under eighteen.
