I can relate

I feel I can relate to the author, Mr. Arlin. I have been eating raw foods for a year now, and there was a phase where I lost about 50 or 60 lbs of "muscle". My cooked bodyfat was about 6%, but my energy and stamina were horrible, and my anger and ego controlled my life. I switched to raw foods and became emaciated. When I read "Raw Power", I started adding more fats and greens and it made a world of difference. I was able to put on about 25 lbs. of muscle. My endurance is at an all time high, so is my energy. Now I'm not the least bit angry anymore. I'm currently 6'2", 188 lbs, 100% raw. My lifetime goal is 230 lbs. One day I'll achieve it. I'm 23 years old. I have time. Maybe one day we'll lift together.

A Bit Mixed Up

It was refreshing that this book was not so extreme as the "Natures First Law" book, of which Steve Arlin is a co-author. However, this book is not sure what it wants to be. Is it a recipe book? Is it a tips-for-eating-raw book? Is it a bodybuilding book? I think the book tries to be all these things, but unfortunately, with such a short length, it can't possibly achieve this. That said, there are some positive aspects to this book, and I'm glad I read it. I would recommend this book to someone who has already read several other raw-food-related books, and is seeking more information. The author does share some good insights and tips on eating a raw diet. He has been raw for several years, and he does have some good stuff to share. His wife also provides a lot of great recipes (but why is she not credited on the cover of the book?). If you're looking for an exercise program or information specific to body building techniques, you are not going to find much of that here.

Raw Power! Optimum health and strength.

Stephen Arlin explains in Raw Power how to achieve optimum health and strength, on a raw food diet. He explains it so eloquently and gently. That all I can say is WOW and THANK YOU!!!! I really needed this book! This book is not just for the "body builder" it is for anyone who desires an awesome, perfect body. This book IS for everyone! If you have never understood body building, there is no need to worry. Stephen explains in great detail all that you will need to know about natural body building, weight lifting, total fitness and nutritional health. He speaks from personal experience and has even listed several programs for different people. I highly, highly recommend Raw Power! When I received this book, I sat down on my driveway and read it within a few hours. I could not put it down. It spoke to my heart and soul. Stephen made me understand that it is possible to be on a raw food diet; and be strong, beautiful, and "glowing". I could easily relate, because Stephen was very clear, and it is obvious that it works, because he has achieved exactly what this book is called RAW POWER! Stephen even lists some mouth watering raw recipes, as well as a list of seasonal fruits and vegetables. I am so encouraged by this book that I had to share with you all about it too. Please don't miss out on this great piece of work!!

Raw Power! is the best book I've read on the subject.

As a former bodybuilder, olympic weight-lifter, and a present 100% raw-foodist, I think your book "Raw Power!" is the best I've ever read on the subject -- it's great -- keep it up!

"Raw Power! Building Muscle & Strength Naturally"

Radio Show InterviewQuestion: You have a new book out entitled "Raw Power!", which advocates building strength and muscles naturally, eating a vegetarian diet consisting of only raw fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. What is the general idea behind the book?Stephen Arlin: "Raw Power!" is about how to have a beautifully fit, strong, healthy, and vibrant body. This book is designed to help the reader reach the next level, to surpass the negativity, and to build a body filled with super-strength and energy. It's about: eating a 100% natural diet, true natural body-building, and total fitness. The only way to build your body naturally is through eating naturally. Question: Do you think it's possible to get stronger on a raw food diet? Stephen Arlin: [Laughing] We should ask a gorilla that question! A gorilla has the strength equivalent to benchpressing 4,000 pounds -- that's 40 times stronger than the average man. What does the gorilla eat? 100% raw plant foods. It's just common sense -- all the largest and strongest mammals on Earth are 100% raw plant eaters -- the gorilla, the elephant, the hippopotamus, the giraffe, the rhinoceros, the horse, the bull, the buffalo, and so on, are all 100% raw plant eaters! Question: Are you personally stronger now than when you were eating cooked food and animal products? Stephen Arlin: Yes, much more so. It's not even remotely comparable. When I went all-raw, I unleashed an inner-strength that I never knew I had. I have been into weight-lifting since I was about 14 years old; I wish I would have known about the power of raw foods back then! In addition to the massive strength increase, I find that I need little or no rest between sets of exercises now. Went I first went all-raw, I went through a mild detoxification and I shed 51 unwanted, unhealthy pounds (238 to 187 -- I'm 6'2" tall) and have since then gained back 35 pounds of healthy, solid muscle through the unique training work-outs and 100% raw-plant-food diet outlined in "Raw Power!" Question: Does the raw-food eater have an advantage over the cooked-food eater in terms of building muscles? Stephen Arlin: An immeasurable advantage. Building a body with cooked-food nutrition is similar to blowing up a balloon; sooner or later the balloon will deflate. Muscles "blown up" with cooked food and other unnatural substances will eventually atrophy and "deflate." Most fitness experts and body-builders atrophy and wear down pre-maturely. Muscles built on raw-food nutrition last much longer, because they are naturally built. I compare building your body with cooked food to building a brick wall without any mortar. There's no foundation there. Question: Does your book appeal to the body-builders only? Stephen Arlin: "Raw Power!" appeals to anyone with a desire to better themselves mentally and physically. All the other books on diet and fitness, or diet and body-building, are wrong. Cooked food does not build a body; cooked fo
