Even for the beginners

I may not be a genius but with these crossword puzzles I don't have to be. Each puzzle has a fun theme that helps when you get stuck for an answer. I bought every one of the puzzle books available and I hope more will be published soon. In fact, I bought the big omnibus twice because I finished the others and didn't want to give up the fun I had with these. A definite "yes" for any crossword fan.

Good Crossword Puzzle Fun

This is a collection of fun, not too difficult crossword puzzles. I do a lot of crosswords and these are a little easier than your average daily newspaper variety, but requires enough thought as to not be too boring. Each one has a theme to help you figure out a few of the clues and each puzzle has one answer you can look up if you need help. But I find I don't usually need to look up just one answer. One thing I did notice was a lot of the puzzles use the same clues. It's not too much, but enough to be noticeable, especially when they are back to back. Also, one of the clue types found often in these puzzles is abbreviations. The clue tells you it's an abbreviation, but the abbreviation itself may not be the "official" abbreviation, but whatever the author needed to make the puzzle fit. I buy a lot of the Random House Casual Crossword volumes because they are fun and not too difficult and they come in a spiral bound book so you don't have to try to keep the book open while you do a puzzle. Unfortunately I didn't read the description too closely on this one, it came bound not spiral. It's thick and cumbersome to hold open and write in your answers especially near the inside.
