When eccentric Aunt Georgiana decides that nephew Ralph shows promise as a sea-serpent charmer, Ralph is ready with a secret weapon. This description may be from another edition of this product.
As one of the lesser known instruments of the orchestra, the bassoon is often overlooked in children's books. What a delight it was for me, as a general music teacher, to find a well written, funny book highlighting this instrument! This is a favorite of students! They love the adventure Ralph has when he goes to vacation with his aunt. She is super at encouraging Ralph to continue studying by accentuating the positive aspect of his practice time. As a result of Ralph and his aunt working together, they "save the day" by conquering a monster.

Ralph`s Secret Weapon Steven Kellogg who wrote the mysterious tadpole has written another book . The story is Ralph`s Secret Weapon. The book is published by Dial books and is for 7-9 year olds. The main charecter Ralph who goes and stays with his aunt Georgina for the summer. The author Steven Kellogg wrote another book about an animal but thisw time it not a tadpole. My favorite thing is when Ralph uses his secret weapon. My least favorite thing was when Ralph plays the bassoon because its real loud and can break glass. What happend to the dragon did he get sick , or did he die . I liked it because his secret weapon is a funny weapon and is disgusting to Ralph.

This book is very cute and funny. The pictures are hilarious and add a lot to the story. As a bassoonist,I think the best thing about this book is that Ralph plays the bassoon. Just try to find another picture book with a bassoon in it!
