The best book ever! A million stars!

I'm thirteen...and I'm reading this series for the third time! It's a book that never gets old! You'll read it over and over again and never get tired of it! If you could give it a million stars...I would! The way the book is written...is magical! You want to read it slowly to get every word, yet at the same time yourself reading it as fast as you can! It's got mystery and danger...but unlike most...it's so real! The best thing is that the characters always turn to God when they need help instead of panicking or thinking they can do it on their own! I'm not gonna tell you what happens...cause you need to find out what happens for yourself! You'll find yourself totally rapped up and lost in the book without even realizing that hours that have gone by! This is defiantly a must read! For everyone!

Raiders from the Sea

My 10 year old daugter finished all 5 books of this series in 6 days. I decided to read the 1st book and ended up doing the same thing. I am now reading it aloud to my two young sons and they are devouring every word. Lois Walfrid Johnson has done a masterful job integrating adventure, history and faith together in one captivating series. This series goes beyond entertainment. In a world where entertainment is relentlessly sought, this series challenges you to a higher understanding of faith and character.

Wonderful!

Raiders from the Sea is wonderful for everyone of any age, boys and girls alike! Bree, Mikkel, and Devin are wonderful, heartfelt characters that are just like any other kids, but with an exciting adventure attached to them. After Bree and Devin are captured by ruthless Vikings, they face a test that only God can help them with. This brother and sister touch the hearts of many people along their journey of faith and learn important lessons about themselves that they'll never forget. Viking Quest is truly a quest you and your family will want to go on together!

Exciting historical adventure.

Thirteen-year-old Bree O'Toole and her fourteen-year-old brother, Devin, live with their parents and younger siblings on a farm in Ireland in the late tenth century. Bree loves her beautiful home, and is grateful that even though she is a girl, she was given the opportunity to be educated at the monastery. But at the same time, she often longs to see faraway places. She gets her wish, but in a terrible way. One day, she rescues a young man from drowning, not realizing he is a Viking and by saving him she has put her family and village in danger. The Vikings capture Bree and Devin during their raid. Devin is later set free by the young Viking leader, Mikkel - the same young man Bree rescued from drowning. But as the Viking ship sails north across the sea, Bree has nothing to look forward to but a life of slavery, and she struggles to hold on to her courage. Young readers who enjoyed other books by Lois Walfrid Johnson, or who have an interest in historical fiction about the Vikings or the Early Middle Ages, are sure to enjoy this book. It's an exciting historical adventure, and I liked that it covers a time period that I love, but don't see too much of in historical fiction. I look forward to reading the other books in this series to find out what happens next.

Excellent read for boys and girls

The book operates well on an adventure level when Bree rescues Mikkel, who will later go on to raid beautiful Glndalough monastery and take her and her brother captive. The sections where she tries to rescue her brothers and sisters is excellent too. There is lots of excitement, especially when Dev has to try to make his way back home after Bree is able to free him. She of course has to go to Norway. Gripping stuff!!On the Christian level it is sincere without being preachy. On the historical level it is accurate and very interesting. The details of life in Ireland and on the Viking ship are superb. A wonderful read for kids adn adults alike.
