If you're looking to *learn* French, this is not the book to buy. If you already have a background in the language, however, this book serves as a great reference.

The BEST French Grammar Book I Have - And I Have A LOT!

This book is extremely thorough, easy to use, easy to understand, with examples from both contemporary and classical literary sources. Each and every rule has accompanying examples, and a clear explanation of the exceptions. I used to spend a lot of time paging through my various other grammar books, trying to find the topic or example that I was looking for. The chapters on "Nouns", "Pronouns", "Verbs", "Conjunctions", "The French Sentence", etc. make it easy to find the general category you need, and the subsections are further divided into finer levels of detail. This is the most thorough and understandable grammar reference I have used, and I highly recommend it.
