Love these books!

I have bought several of these books for my four year old son and couldn't be more impressed. He already really enjoys looking at them and I know he will use them more and more as he gets older. The Rabbits, Squirrels and Chipmunks book has so much great information about each animal-habitat, feeding, as well as projects kids can do related to each. Wonderful pictures, lots of information. You can't go wrong with any of these books!

Rabbits, Squirrels and Chipmunks

Recently, while on vacation in TN, I bought "Caterpillars, Bugs and Butterflies" for my 5 year old granddaughter. This is another in this series of Take-Along-Guide books. She absolutely loves that book so I decided to buy 4 more, among which was "Rabbits, Squirrels and Chipmunks". This book explains what the animal looks like, what it eats and where to find it. There's also a few pages of things to make i.e. "Hang a squirrel nut-ball"! This book is great for older children, but my 5 year old granddaughter loves them all. I'm sure I'll be ordering the rest in the series. I'd say they are wonderful books to have on hand.

Excellent learning tool!

I purchased 5 books of this series for my five year old daughter for Christmas, as she wanted a "field guide" like her older sisters when exploring our 45 acres of woods. After reviewing these books before giving them, we decided to use them as part of our science program for our home school. These books have bright and colorful pictures, short accurate explanations of the animal, their habitat, eating habits, and even some of the popular anecdotes that go along with the animal. It has the appropriate warning for studying certain animals. What we enjoy most is that many of these animals can be found in our back yard to furthur study. Each book deals with three types of animal, such as Rabbits, Squirrels, and Chipmunks. They are separated into sections dealing with each type. At the end of the section is a wonderful hands-on project the child can basically do on their own within the recommended age group (9-12) or with some assistance for a younger age group like my daughter. (Such as making a hanging squirrel nut ball using peanut butter, nuts and seeds) My 5 year old begs us to read these books to her and loves the projects. I highly recommend this book and others in the series for those who want their children to learn about nature and how to respect it.
