Does God work through ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary achievements? Is it natural to live supernaturally? Dr. Clifford E. Daugherty describes how God worked supernaturally through the... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Through Dr. Daughorty's recount of Valley Christian, I have been truly amazed how just a little bit of faith can make a huge difference. God works when you trust and believe in Him. By the manys events that took place to build VCHS on the Skyway hill, I see God's hand on this school.

Quest for Excellence: Living the Supernatural Life Naturally is a book I could not put down. Once you begin to read it, you have to continue to find the solutions to seemingly impossible problems. Each chapter presents a cliff-hanger, yet Daugherty relates how God solved each problem. The book tells the story of Valley Christian Schools' moving from a school ready to close from financial problems to a school that others visit for help in their organization. It is the story of a kindergarten - [...] school, but principles are presented that are helpful to any type of organization. The story is spellbinding with practical principles to help improve the quality of any company or organization. It is a must read!

I started out reading this book because I went to Valley Christian Schools K-12 and hold Dr. Daugherty in high regard. In fact, I played football with his son and stayed the night at his house on numerous occasions. A couple of things I recall about Dr. Daugherty is that he deeply loves God, has impeccable integrity and is a man of vision. Those qualities saturate the book through and through. This is the first book that I have ever read (besides the Bible) where I literally felt so moved that I got teary eyed on a couple occasions. The first occurrence is on page 17 within the foreword by Ed Silvoso. The other occurrence was on page 43 as Dr. Daugherty describes the impossible taking shape. I literally went to class in the modular buildings he envisioned and the book just keeps getting better and better. It is the testimony of a man (and others) living their lives totally surrendered to Christ and how they go beyond the ordinary. The recipe for others to live this out is provided too. A must read for anyone no matter their vocation, place in life etc.

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for direction, and perhaps the Lord's guidance, as they endeavor to grow their organization, school, or church. The story of Valley Christian Schools, San Jose, is compelling if not downright miraculous. It is the story of how God's provision took a "sinking ship" and turned it into one of the premiere comprehensive K-12 Christian schools in the nation in only a matter of a few short years. So how does a school plagued with low enrollment, under paid teachers, no athletic fields, and rented facilities go on to produce ivy-league scholars, world class athletes, and sensational artists? The same way He can bless your organization. Read one school's story of God's blessing coupled with incredible vision and perseverance. May it richly bless your life as it did ours.
