A Quarter Past Three: Medieval Madness is a different sort of children's book. The authors have created a way for children to see different aspects of world history through the eyes of a boy, Tommy, which gives the book a unique perspective. Along with experiencing the history of the medieval period and learning about knights and jousts, Tommy also feels the worry and anxiety of being lost and alone without his family. Throughout the book, he relies on his life experience and what his parents have taught him to get him through the sticky situations he finds himself in. This is probably why my students relate so well to the book. The authors understand where the children are coming from. My kids love it. I can't wait for the second book to come out!
