Another Denhardt Gem

Murder in Moab I was looking for research material for the sequel to Murder in Moab, a book about historical rustling and modern day quarter horse racing. I found this book and Mr. Denhardt's "Foundation Dams of the American Quarter Horse". These two sources enabled me to establish a plausible bloodline for a bloodline of a ranch raising successful racing quarter horses. Mr. Denhardt has certainly done his homework, putting together two books that provide the history of American horse racing from colonial days in the 1600s to modern times. And in the process he has conflated scholarly material with a fascinating history. I particularly enjoyed his stories of the characters who founded the quarter horse racing period, they help make up another mostly untold, and rousing, history of the Old West. An excellent source, and an excellent read.

Denhardt

A must have for those interested in history of the Quarter Horse. All of Denhard'ts books are excellent. I have and have read just about all of them. This book will never be outdated, and will always be relevant.
