LOVE THESE WEEKLY READER BOOKS

I bought this book while I was in elementary school through weekly reader. I am now 38 and I have treasured this book throughout my life. I love this tale of a "gang" of cats, Pyewacket being the leader. You totally lose yourself in this adventure/"life is about change" story. Give your kids the gift of words and wonderful story telling. Trying not to give any major plot happenings away, I will try to summarize this book. It is about a group of cats that live in a rundown section of town. They have a meeting place in the neighborhood dump. They find themselves about to be ripped from their homes and friends because a development firm is coming in to "revamp" the place. But the cats have an "ace in the hole"....Pyewacket and his clever plan to get rid of all that troubles them. You will love this book as well as your children. Take time to read to your kids....start now..with this book. You will NOT be sorry.

Children's literature is a wonderful way to relax. I recall reading this book as a child and losing myself in the community of cats. I am so happy to find it again so I can add it to my collection and pass it along to my son! Well worth reading for adults too...

I agree with VA. I must have checked this book out of the school library 30 times, in grade school. I absolutely adore this book. I searched all over to find a copy to add to my daughter's book collection. I enjoy reading it to her (and I borrow it for myself on occasion). Anyone who loves cats will love this story.

Only five stars...

If I could rate this book any higher, I could. I read this a *long* time ago, and loved it. It's the kind of book you can pick up at just about any stage of your life and absolutely adore each time. I still have a copy from my early childhood (mine was printed in 1951), and plan to give it to my child/children someday. Excellent children's book. Do yourself a favor and buy it.
