The second novel in bestseller Maureen Lee's outstanding Liverpool sequence about family life during the Second World War
September 1940 - the cruellest year of war for Britain's civilians as the Luftwaffe mercilessly blitz their cities. In Pearl Street, near Liverpool's docks, families struggle to cope the best they can. A nasty surprise for ever-cheerful dressmaker Brenda Mahon, and flighty Sean's love for little Alice, show...
Once again, nothing but praise for Maureen Lee's books. Loved the characters and how they interacted during a time of great stress. The plot flows and you can hardly put the book down.
Great book

This is really a wonderful book! Especially if you like WWII books taking place on the British home front. The era is described in great detail, and the characters are believable. You feel that you are on a journey with them. At the end of the book, I felt sad to put the book down and say goodbuy to my new "friends".
