Dr. Mishlove gives a scholarly review of a number of schools and development systems from the standpoint of a true parapsychologist, which is to say, a skeptical scientist. He points out that the greatest need at the moment in the study of psi is the lack of trained subjects who demonstate the effects reliably. There is also a review of the state of the science as of the date of the writing, and thoughts on the training systems. Especially valuable (in my opinion) is the comments about testing and learning theory ( from Tart is I recall correctly) and the importance of bringing what we know of how people learn to the table when designing training AND TESTING since we presumably would not want to extinquish the very trait we are trying to study.
