Touching, Thought-Provoking Reflections on Life

The late Joe Bayly was a man of deep Christian conviction, having served as a columnist for Eternity Magazine for 25 years. His slim volume "Psalms of My Life" has been a source of inspiration, comfort and renewed aspiration to me since it's earliest edition first appeared in paperback more than 3 decades ago. His reflections, styled as "Psalms", address matters common to men and women in families -- facing challenges as a couple, loss of loved ones, the difficulties of considering a new job, and larger matters of the church's work in the world and life's joys, sorrows, and pressures. A small sample, the last offering in this fine book, illustrates the richness. Bayly's "Psalm of Anticipation" reads: Lord Christ - Your Servant - Martin Luther - said he only had - two days - on his calendar - today - and that day - and that's - what I want too. - and I want - to live - today - for - that day. Though a small volume, it is filled with the big themes, issues and joys of life, and in its varied iterations it has been a personal touchstone and companion to me, for more than 30 years. I give it away frequently to those amidst life's challenges. I highly recommend it.

Everday Psalms for Everyday Living

I have had this book for years now. Joseph Bayly is able to put down on paper so much of how people feel whether their spirit are soaring as high as an eagle, or they're just having a very bad day. The honesty of his discussions with God are refreshing.This book is one that keeps coming in and out of publication. I try and always have 3 copies on hand. Most of the time they are loaned out to people. This book is one I will have in my library until the day I die.
