Powerful testimonial of life during El Salvador's civil war

Scott speaks out of his own unique experience of living with Salvadorans in the Red Zones of El Salvador at the height of the conflict. His powerful images and moving stories combine with well-researched historical notes on the 12 year civil war. This book takes its emotional toll on the reader because the truth it conveys is not easy to accept, but the pain is cathartic and the book speaks of an undying hope which continues to rise among the Salvadoran people. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in the role of Christianity in Latin America or in the human ramifications of U.S. policy in Central America.
