Eye Opening

Profiles in Entrepreneurship has proven to be a life changing book in my case. As a non-traditional student (having gone back to college as a full-time student at the age of 35 or so), I only had a bit of trouble re-adjusting to the campus. Then I realized I was really just having trouble adjusting to my chosen career field of Health Administration, but that took a long time for me to figure out: Health Administrators are a bit conservative about pretty much everything. What helped me a great deal was this book, and it's simple way of divining the ins and outs of entrepreneurship and personal relationships in the "real world." Having led a life of constantly questioning that which has obviously not sufficed in the business place, it was with great relish that I opened and read the many profiles of entrepreneurs who have not only questioned mediocrity, but have continued to pave the way to a better world with answers or at least attempts at answers in this book. So many of the things I find most important in life: long-term relationships, risk taking over complacency, the desire to grow/see new horizons, and a passion for excellence, are explained as being the motivation so many of us have as entrepreneurs. The sub-title of the book is "Leaving More than Footprints." Having learned that I am in fact an entrepreneur at heart and that there are so many others like me in the world has given my own sense of well being a terrific boost. The book is not only motivational; it's filled with real world examples of how to make the most of myself over the course of my career/life. For that, I thank the authors and contributors. . . My success started when I chose to work in a field that was my calling. Profiles in Entrepreneurship will forever be a major part of the very foundation of my success however: because learning about myself and how to see the same things in other high achievers has been the biggest step I have taken in the two years I've been back on campus. My chances of greatest success have been exponentially increased because I picked up this book however. Onward. R.

Review from a Change Management Student

This book provides excellent insights into many successful entrpreneurs. Not only do they provide their stories and rises to success, but they provide words of wisdom that every entrpreneur should remember; not only are they useful in the business world, but also in day to day life. Their stories are inspiring and educational. The 8-12 page profiles are a great read. I read at least one profile a week for my entrpreneurship and team building class, but I also read more than that just on my own. Also, I've lent this book to my Dad more than once just to look over some really interesting people. A good investment, definitely.
