Dan has an easy style that is very readable. Not for the novice but a must for anyone serious about color correcting.I didn't like having to flip back and forth to see examples on different pages. Some of his explainations would have been easier to follow if the examples were adjacent to the text. I didn't find that it was written at the time Photoshop 3 was out any impediment. Photoshop 5 is out now and it is just aas germain. I also read his other book Makeready which was just as good and not a rehash. I went to his course in Atlants and it was great. I understand he is working on a new book now and I'll be first in line to get it.

This book will rip the sunglasses off your tired eyes and save you time and headaches. No more multiple selections and paths, no piddling with useless tools, no more guess work. It all starts with the info palette and the eyedropper. It is must reading. I strongly recommend Dan's color correction seminars either before or after to see the image transformations right before your eyes. The channel blending information is worth the price of 10 books!

Essential Photoshop Guide

Killer Photoshop book! Even though it "only" covers Photoshop 3. If you're a "normal" working photographer or designer chances are you don't use 90% of the stuff you read about in the "Photoshop Bible" all the time. What you really use is levels, curves and the Info box. "Professional Photoshop" concentrates on those areas and really helps you understand what you're doing, and why!! I'd give it a "10" if it was upgraded to PS 4!
