Fine Analysis of Victorian Britain

Mrs. Harris's analysis of the social history of Victorian Britain is informative yet to the point. She wastes no words and is quite a good writer. Social histories can often be plodding; this work is not. Mrs. Harris sees the biggest changes in Britain occuring in the 1870s and 1880s, times of economic stagnation and recession. Britain's government becomes a much more activist one during this time period. Useful book!
