While writing a term paper on vampires, twelve-year-old Alexander finds himself falling under the spell of Dracula and his family of vampires who are operating a funeral parlor in Massachusetts.
This was my first vampire book. I bought it when I was in 3rd or 4th grade during a book fair. I read it and enjoyed it then and re-read it a few days ago and still enjoyed the story.

Vampires on my mind

I actually haven't read this book in...I guess about twelve, thirteen years. I'm twenty-three now and I still remember this book -- I couldn't remember the title, or the author, but I finally found it after a few months of idle searching. There are very few books I read between the ages of 9 and 12 that left as great an impression on me. Ruthven savouring raw meat, the creeping horrors of the librarian Renfield, the dark underground passage between the library and the mortuary, all the affable darkness of mysterious Cimralla... Great story.
