A Good Book Indeed

What really trilled me about this book is its dynamic nature. The authors of the book have consistently updated this book in line with technological advances in printing. I was impressed when I saw recent digital presses like Indigo and Xeikon. This book covers all aspects of printing, it give a sound historical perspective of each aspect. It is a good reference book for all printers, amateur or professional, it has good things in stock for all classes of printers.

Fantastic purchase!

I bought this text as a Valentine's Day gift for my boyfriend, who works in the printing industry and wanted to know more about processes but didn't have the time at work to learn "hands-on". He absolutely loves it! The narrative is technical without being confusing, and has just the right amount of graphics and images to get the point across. I think it would be an excellent reference as an introductory material (like for a person such as myself) or for the more knowledgable industry expert (like my boyfriend). I also appreciated that there have been multiple revisions and editions, which makes the content current and viable.

Review of Printing Technology 5E

This book is a well laid out, easy to read study of the Printing Industry with plenty of graphics to help visualise processes and machines. A definate recommendation to all those intending to follow the Printing Industry as a career. A recommendation to the authors / publishers would be an easily accessable web site to help students and lecturers with lesson plans and other queries which might arise. The current web site is not user friendly as one would have hoped for. I rate this book a solid 4 out of 5 stars. Best wishes Chris Lambert

It covers the lot.

I have bought a number of books on each of the topics of Typography, Printing, Prepress and other related areas. I have now lost count on the total number, but it is many, many dozen. The cost? I fear to tally it up. I could have saved all that time, money and effort. I could have bought PRINTING TECHNOLOGY 5E. If this book was twice the price, it would still be worth the money. In 500 pages, it covers everything. ---------------------------------------------------- There a books that focus on one area or a number of areas, but I have not come across any that cover everything from original thought to final product. There are some that claim to, and indeed, I thought that some of those actually did. However, after this book, I realize that none of the others have. In many books you have to wade through the authors own personal references and experiences, bad jokes, margin notes, clever icons, philosophical quotes and other 'padding'. The book here is strictly to the point. It is well written, direct and economical. By economical, I mean that basically one page in this book is equal to one chapter in another. The book is brief, but it is by no means a short book. It covers everything. By leaving out the nonsense, the author manages to fit in everything of relevance. This is 500 pages crammed with information. I have read some good books on this subject, written by the very most prestigious and respected authors in the field. However, I will have to admit that this one is the best of the lot. I thank the author for creating this work for my use. Regards to you all Karl Rasmussen Sydney, Australia

Something the wanna-be graphic artists can understand.

This book takes the reader through the right steps to acheive satisfactory results on a press. The knowledge contained in this book will separate the reader from the growing population of half-baked desktop publishers who cause grief to printers, service bureaus, advertising agencies and the like. It can also save the self-publisher hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars caused by bad design and or process."Do me and the printing industry a favor, read it!"
