Twelve Tactics of Perseverance

Wes Daughenbaugh defines perseverance as "love that keeps on obeying." In his illustration of the "Cycle of Success" it is the step that comes just before victory and great achievement. Continued obedience builds Christ like character. Perseverance is the key to victory, achievement, and intimacy with God. In each chapter of the book Daughenbaugh shares a different tactic or technique of perseverance. As I read through these chapters I found I was able to recognize areas in my own life that were draining me of spiritual strength and victory. I was reminded again of the importance of setting aside a time in the morning for prayer, and of the victory that comes with praying through. Dramatic pen and ink illustrations bring home a truth from each chapter. Illustrations in chapter one depict the power of being motivated by the desire to glorify God to break through Satan's blockade as well as an illustration showing how our root motivations determine our faithfulness. Wes urges the reader to take responsibility for their thoughts and images which become the focus of mediation for strength in overcoming, the world, the flesh, and the devil. Allowing Satan to be the focus of our self evaluation will hinder the flow of supernatural faith though you. Wes uses an illustration to emphasize the principle of receiving spiritual strength after we make our deepest commitment to do God's will. A whole chapter is filled with stories that exemplify the principle of blessing following celebration of trouble. Another important principle Wes develops is that when we choose to rejoice in our weaknesses, hardships, difficulties, persecutions, and insults, and depend on God, then we are strong in Him. Illustrations using narrative and artwork help the reader ready themselves for spiritual warfare. An illustration from the lives of Jonathan and David emphasize the importance of the principle of encouraging others. The final two chapters speak of how vision is the first step to make things happen. Wes then shows trials and troubles accompany soul winning efforts. His final visual illustration contrasts the peril of boredom with the excitement of rescue. Wes Daughenbaugh is an anointed communicator, pastor, teacher, and evangelist. "Principles of Perseverance" is written especially for pastors in an effort to give encouragement to continue steadfast in ministry toward the goal of finishing well. The principles are readily applicable to every follower of Jesus. Biblical, evangelical, and charismatic describe Wes Daughenbaugh and the thrust of his message. These twelve tactics of perseverance" are timely, important, and powerful.
