Although this book was published in 1965 it is still an excellent book and very instructional in teaching the student on how to read the roentgenogram. In many hospitals the respiratory therapist is called on to look at a patients chest x-ray for establishing proper ET tube placement, recommending respiratory therapies, and assessing a patient progress while on mechanical ventilation. These skills are something that takes practice and learning and this book helps make that process easier. The format of Principles of Chest Roentgenology uses a programmed instruction approach where the material is presented in frames of instruction. As the student reads the material a series of fill-in-the-blank questions are given with the answers listed to the right of the frame. This way the student is given immediate reinforcement of the material as he advances. In addition, many chest roentgenograms are included in the text. All in all this is an excellent book and can be supplemented with some of the various sites on the internet featuring chest roentgenograms for further viewing.
