Wonderful "you are there" pix/history book of town, campus, institutes
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 14 years ago
This is an atmospheric and informative coffee table tome covering the history of the town of Princeton from earliest (pre-Revolutionary) times, plus the university, student-related downtown districts and surrounding institutions, with many 1/2 and 2/3 page-sized color pix. Photos (taken by the same financial type/photographer Robert Gambee who did the superb "Wall Street Christmas") are both artistic and of high reproduction quality, on heavy matte white stock. The accompanying text is well focused and definitive, from data on early homes to campus buildings (classrooms/Halls, schools and colleges, libraries, dorms, eating clubs) and cultural phenomena (religion, music, testing and tutoring methods, sports events, drama, and the famous reunions). Having read this book, I felt as though I'd been born and raised in town and was an alum of the college!
