Excellent For The Developmentally Focused Teacher

The key to play-based curriclums is to realize that you teach children developmentally, not acadmically like with direction instruction/teacher-directed teaching. It's a different, more liberating approach that most veteran teachers and principals may find disorienting. Catron tackles early childhood curriculum from the get-go from a play perspective. the concepts of orchestrating play, realizing it occurs on a continuum, and realizing that play is the hallway to seeing a child's Zone of Proximal development appear in every chapter. I would highly suggest it as an alternative book if you cannot get PLAY AT THE CENTER OF THE CURRICULUM.
