A Dream Come True!

Ever since Shakespeare's "A Midsummer's Night's Dream", I have been an avid admirer of Robin Goodfellow. This book brings him to life in a way that only women can really appreciate. The heroine in the book is just an ordinary woman, not of supermodel material, who has problems that are realistic, and Robin "courts" her in such a way that all women wish men would treat them. I look forward to the sequel to this novel with great anticipation, as I could not put this book down for a minute.

Definitely worth a read!

But drat the book anyway. My first day of vacation and I think, "I'll just read the first chapter over breakfast." I mean, I had things to DO on my vacation. And instead I'm glued to the book all morning. Five kleenexes gone. And five stars, too. I almost never give out five stars any more!Very enjoyable, lovely characters and the heroine is "reubenesque." Thank you, Ms. Fox! Good situation, tight plot, very welcome bits of humor. My only wish would be that there would have been maybe two less touchy-erotic scenes in the first half. Other than that, the relationship was electrical and the book kept me guessing about possible endings. This is the first romance book that I thought I'd like to see made into a TV movie, if only so lots of other people would get to enjoy it, too. I very much look forward to the next fantasy romance book due out, what, this fall?, from Ms. Fox.

Very highly recommended!

Kate Carmichael no longer believes in magic after her father left on a quest for fairy gold twelve years ago. Her father promised to return for her, but now is presumed dead. Now her guardian Nana has passed away, and the will promising her the Victorian house has gone missing. Adam, Kate's guardian and only living relative, put economics ahead of his grandmother after his father dies. Making money became more important than an aging grandmother, especially after Adam marries. Without the will, Adam inherits the house and immediately dispossess Kate. Kate's loss runs deeper than the simple loss of the property. The house has been the only security in her life since her father's abandonment. When Kate lifts the portrait and peers at the back, her fairy sight picks up on a mysterious name. When she reads the name Robin Goodfellow aloud, a charming, sexy man suddenly appears before her. Two hundred years of banishment into a portrait at the hands of the Queen of the Fae left Robin Goodfellow with only the ability to watch and listen. He's watched Kate grow and mature, and cares for her deeply. Now Kate has a week to move, and must cope with this man with a gift of charm, as well. Robin doesn't stay long wit mortal women, as a rule. But Kate is different. He enjoys her friendship, and is wildly attracted to her Rubenesque figure. Robin's magic, a gift for charm, has always provided whatever he wants or needs, but when he finds himself needing Kate, true magic begins. Of course, the fact that he can't get further than fifty feet away, without magically reappearing at her side, has it's own attraction! This whimsical tale will delight the heart of romance readers who believe in magic. The light humor and depths of passion prove to be quite delightful. Moreover, I find it refreshing for other reasons, as well. Not only does PRINCE OF CHARMING blend fairly lore and marvelous archetypes, but the heroine is quite remarkable-a sexy, tall, full figured woman, to be precise. Watching Kate's metamorphosis into self acceptance and full womanhood is wonderful! This novel is a marvelous read! Very highly recommended.

A unique fantasy that I truly enjoyed!

Karen Fox's PRINCE OF CHARMING was a joy to read. Her writing style is wonderful, the story itself unique and fun and the entire book was one I didn't want to put down. Kate Carmichael has been living in her dream house--the victorian home of an elderly friend who has recently passed away. Facing eviction, the last thing she needs is any more complications, but that's exactly what she gets in the form of Robin Goodfellow. Robin has been magically trapped in a portrait of himself for two hundred years, and while he's now freed from the picture thanks to Kate, he's unable to move more than 50 feet from Kate's side, effectively trapping him to her. The two must figure out how to free each other, but as they do, they both realize that being free isn't exactly what either of them want. This Magical Love romance from Jove is a must read! Sue Waldeck Road to Romance

An amusingly whimsical fantasy romance

When Nana died, her attorney informed her ward Kate Carmichael and her only living relative Adam St. John that no will has been found. Without a will, by law, Nana's house loved by Kate goes to the family, Adam, who plans to toss the moocher out and sell the home.A stunned Kate returns home to talk to the portrait that she has used as a confident for the last twelve years or since her dad allegedly died. Taking the picture off the wall, Kate mutters that everyone she loves leaves her. She then reads an inscription on the back that she never noticed before. Suddenly Robin Goodfellow leaves the portrait and appears next to Kate. He persuades her that he in deed was trapped inside the portrait for two centuries by the fairy queen Titania. However, he quickly learns that he is not completely free, as he remains bound to his rescuer Kate. Robin and Kate fall in love, but being an immortal he cannot deal with watching a beloved mortal eventually die while she too cannot cope with everyone she loves dying.PRINCE OF CHARMING is an amusing fantasy romance that will enchant sub-genre fans. The story line is enjoyable especially the humorous scenes involving Robin's charm power and his learning about his "disability." Simply Robin charms the reader and steals the show from Kate and the support cast. Kathy Fox writes a novel that is fun to read.Harriet Klausner
