Thoroughbred's Challenge -- Save the Series!

I first read Pride's Challenge when I was in second grade. I bought it at a book fair because it had a horse on the cover and reading about a sixteen-year-old sounded glamorous and exciting. Well, I read the book cover-to-cover more times than I can count; I can even still recite the majority of the first chapter (and, bizarrely enough, Joanna Campbell's bio) by heart. It wasn't long before I just had to get the rest of the series. Now, ten years later, I'm still a devoted fan and I still count down the days to the release of the latest book. Thoroughbred was always a higher caliber than the other horse series I read in elementary and middle school. I was absolutely drawn into the world of Ashleigh, Samantha, and yes, even Cindy. This book was what started it all, though. The author does justice to all her characters -- human and horse. Pride is a racehorse so believeable you keep waiting to hear about him on TV, so incredible you get goosebumps reading some of the racing scenes, and so lovable you want him to come live in your backyard. The storyline is quick-paced with plenty of twists to keep you thrilled to the end. Most of all, though, it sparkles with realism and with candor. I feel like I know the people I read about and that Whitebrook Farm really is hidden somewhere in those Kentucky hills. That's why I was so upset to hear that Harper Collins plans to end the series after #72 is published. I have been a loyal fan for ten years -- and I know I'm not alone in that. So if you'd like to help save this series, one that has molded the dreams of horse-crazy girls for many a generation, then please check out the Whitebrook Farm [...] website. Sign the petition, send the publisher an email, drop them a letter in the mail. But most of all: do SOMETHING. Pride has his challenge. Now this is ours.

Oh my gosh! This book was sooo good! It is one of my favorite books ever! Okay, first Brad and Lavinia get this million+ horse and think he is better than Pride. They think Pride is burnt out because of his injury. But then Pride beats their horse, Lord Ainsley. Lavinia and Brad are furious. They try all sorts of tricks to get to Ashleigh and she is getting married too. At Ashleigh's wedding Charlie has a heart attack and dies! :(!!! Charlie was soooooo cool! I miss him so much as I continue to read this series. Ashleigh doesn't think she can go on without him, especilly when B and L didn't tell Ashleigh that Jilly couldn't ride and put up a jockey from Mexico who listens to B and L's instructions but not Ash's. He holds Pride back and almost ruins him, then Pride breaks away and wins anyway. Lavinia and Brad are furious. When they go to the winner's circle Pride tried to bite L and they leave. Shows those snobby Townsend Acres brats that Whitebrook always comes out on TOP!

I loved it but i miss Charlie!

I loved this book! I Loved how Pride showed Brad and Lavina up! OHH i hate them! Why did Charlie have to die?! He was my fave character! And i miss him SOOOOOOOOOOOO much! All the horses have heart especially Pride and Wonder. You've gotta read this! It made me cry! I miss Charlie! I really do! I never have gotten this attached to a character before and it's weird! PLEAE READ THIS I LOVED IT!!!

BEST BOOK EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've read every book in the series and this is the best one by far. I liked it because for one it wasn't about jumping and two because it was just really really good. First Brad got a new horse a multimillion dollar English Thoroughbred named Lord Ainsley. They race Pride against him but luckily he wins. Ashleigh and Mike are getting married but at their wedding Charlie dies and Ashleigh thinks that she cant train because Charlie taught her every thing. But luckily she finaly got her head on straight. Also Tor and Samantha got in a big fight but they too worked it out. I would have rated this book 10 stars but it only goes up to five. If you haven't read this book I strongly suggest that you do.

Great book!!!!!!!!

Mike and Ashleigh are finally getting married!!! But when Charlie, the old trainer, dies Ashleigh must take all of what he has taught her, but it won't be easy. Brad Townsend, the biggest jerk at Tonsend Acres, is on his father's case about letting Wonder's Pride be trained at Townsend Acres. But Ashleigh and Samantha, Pride's trainers already have a problem to face, Lord Ainsley. The big thoroughbred, owned by Brad Townsend and his snobby wife Lavinia Townsend, is picking up victory after victory. Lavinia and Brad will do anything to keep Pride from the winner's circle so their horse can win.
