Ho hum

With a title of “The World’s Most Spectacular Railway Journeys,” I expected photos of awesome scenery. The content of most of the images is of the trains themselves—just their exteriors, not even interiors. Boring. I enjoy train travel—the ever changing sights that we pass through, the restaurants, lounge areas, sleeping and seating layouts, with perhaps some historical touches, the other travelers. The train itself is a means to an end. I rarely care about its exterior. The book itself is a good size to portray the overlooked scenery but I found its actual contents boring, far from inspiring. Maybe readers who had once been little boys with their own train sets would enjoy the book, but I not among them.
