In 1849 James S. White started the first Sabbatarian Adventist periodical entitled The Present Truth. After publishing 11 issues of it, he changed the name to Second Advent Review and Sabbath Herald. As one with experience in the proclamation of the first and second angel's messages before 1844, he felt the need to remind the small band about the platform of truth laid by those who preached in the beginning.
