I am not a professional welder, just an average hobbyist who likes to do things my-self My dad taught me to arc weld as a child, he was a farmer, just an average guy who had to do things himself This book will be very useful for the beginner; it contains a lot of basic info and welding exercises, But at the same time go into a lot of scientific detail describing things like the affect of magnetism on the shape of the arc It tells you how to avoid cracking and deforming of the metal and at the same time how fast the drop of metal travel from the rod to the piece The book contains a lot of photos showing the wrongs and rights, ways to identify the wrongs, then show you how to fix them It also contains a lot of practical reference tables, showing metal thickness, amps, rod thickness etc The focus is on teaching you how to get a perfect weld, beginner or professional I will use this book to teach my self to weld aluminum and stainless, also as reference to improve my steel welding Definite recommend if you a hands on person that would rather spend time in your workshop than spend days reading though archives in the hope that one day you might actually find that scrap of info needed to do the job. This book will allow you more workshop time and less time wasted searching though books
