Excellent Book!

I would recommend this book highly to anyone who needs to brush up on the English language. I keep it next to my computer as one of my main reference books for writing. The author does not focus on one rigid set of guidlines, but discusses different levels of "proper English", such as casual spoken English and written business English. The book provides a step-by-step approach to grammar which is very logical, thorough, and easy to follow. The text is appropriate for students of any age, but is geared toward those who have either never had the opportunity to learn all of the rules of English or have forgotten some of what they learned in school. Ms. Embree manages to makes learning fun again by incorporating humor and many "real world" examples to illustrate her points. She has also devised a system called "Memory Pegs" to help with retention of particularly important points. This book would be especially helpful to anyone studying business communication or "English as a second language". Young aspiring authors would also appreciate Ms. Embree's ability to teach clarity and focus. The illustrations are great, and some of them are hillarious!
