A wonderful read that many will relish, highly recommended

Love doesn't care for God or earthly disagreements. "Power's Garden" is the story of a typical Texas family and their clash with another family in the area who happen to be Mormons. Not getting along without any hitches, the families find themselves butting heads. But in spite of this, there may be hope yet as two of their clans find something more important. A story of rural love in the early twentieth century, "Power's Garden" is a wonderful read that many will relish, highly recommended.

An enjoyable history lesson

"Power's Garden" is a wonderful read for anyone who loves American history and enjoys a great story told through warm and lively characters. Arizona in 1917 was troubled by drought and the restrictions of World War I. The Gila Valley was filled with the arguments of local politicians and distrust between the Morman and "gentile" settlers. Dianne Ebertt Beeaff tells the story of two families struggling to get through those hard times, through the eyes of good-hearted Mellie, grandaughter of a large clan of Mormons who had settled the valley, and through strong and practical Duett, a young widow whose family had come to Arizona from Texas. A child's toy holds the key to an ugly family secret, and we learn much of the characters in these families and the obstacles they faced as their stories unfold. You will be swept into the story of "Power's Garden".

Mixed-emotions cover the pages, while the two families build a relationship from courage and strength, when traditions are challenged, and different cultures learn the true definition of love. "THE POWER'S GARDEN" is as intriguing and inspiring as THE LAST SAMURAI, with Tom Cruise.

A Fascinating Read

A Fascinating account of a historical event that I previously knew nothing about. It is written in such an entertaining style that I found it difficult to put down.
