A thorough analysis of the New Left in the USA

This text proves to be a useful introduction to the American New Left movement from the end of the Second World War through to the demise of SDS at the hands of Weatherman at the end of the 1960's. All the major topics from the Red Trials of the 50s, through to the New Left's involvement in Civil Rights and Vietnam protest are covered in detail. The author provides a useful bibliographical essay and full notes for further research, although this information is now sorely limited by the publication date of 1979. Primarily a research source for historians and political scientists, rather than good reading those with an interest or notalgia for for this period.
