POUTINE AND GIN is a detective story set in an alternate history in which Green Bay is part of an independent Republic of Qu?bec. On the eve of World War II, hard-boiled detective Samuel de Champlain Le Pelleteur takes on a particularly challenging case. His secretary, the young, brilliant, and insightful Sophie Marleau, yearns to become a private detective. When the head of a shipping company with an uncanny resemblance to Le Pelleteur's ex-fianc?e hires the detective to look into a string of Native American artwork thefts, the investigation leads Le Pelleteur and Marleau into a complex plot of murder and international intrigue.
