Wonderful and evocative: a must for Big Island lovers

Catherine Bridges Tarleton went to Hawaii and fell in love with it long before I did. Her opening story about calling Hawaii (but Hawaii does not call back) evokes the longing I have most days I'm not there. It transcends technology--phone calls are now my obsessive web cam glimpses--but the longing is there. And National Airport here in DC is still slushy and the bus lines grim... The other stories bring one to Hawaii, talk about learning the malihini-to-kaamaina transition, make me feel like I'm there. Maybe she and I have passed in the aisles at Waikoloa Village Market. I hope so. MAHALO for a wonderful collection of stories and I hope you write more!
