Easy, fun read.

The story dragged on for a bit in the first half. Too many characters at first, but they quickly grew on you. There were a few who didn't even need to be in the story as they didn't do much. The ending was pretty predictable. There were no murders or big sinister plots which made for an entertaining read. Some of the characters really carried the story and made the second half of the book an easy, fun read. Would recommend.

Great fun and a little nuts.

Every once in awhile Carol writes a great tongue in cheek mystery long the lines of Damon Runyon. Keep up the great fun, Carol!

entertaining romp combining balloons and reality TV

Private Investigator Regan Reilly is asked by an old boyfriend to help him sniff out who is causing trouble on the set of his new reality TV show. His show is competing with a sitcom for the attention of Roscoe Parker, who runs the Ballooning Cable TV channel in Las Vegas. Silly characters abound in this amusing story. Nonsensical happenings occur also, with bad actors, slot machine jackpots, crazy overaged cheerleaders, etc. Although this isn't a mystery in the usual sense, I enjoyed it thoroughly. Take it for what it is... an amusing story that reads well and isn't hard on the brain.

Delightful screwball farce

The owner of Hot Air Cable Roscoe Parker has two television shows competing against each other for a slot on his network. Bubbles Ferndale is producing and starring in a sitcom she hopes to get on the air while her competition Danny Madley is trying to get his reality show on Rosco's network. Danny has three married couples competing to see which one should renew their vows in a hot air balloon and cash in a million-dollar check. When malicious pranks start happening on the set, Danny is worried enough to call his friend private investigator Regan Reilly to learn who is sabotaging the show. Many, but not all the tricks, can be attributed to Roscoe who loves stirring the pot. However, someone outside of his control is trying to hurt the contestants and he wants to discover the culprit. Between escalating pranks, each team trying to outwit the other, and team members trying to outsmart the competition, Regan has a hard time keeping everyone alive. The judges of the reality show Uncle Heartburn and Aunt Agony are just two of the funny, quirky and eccentric characters that populate the pages of POPPED. This is a delightful screwball farce that will have the audience in stitches of laughter. Nobody gets killed and no blood is shed so fans that don't like violence in their mystery novels will want to read Carol Higgins Clark's lighthearted satirical cozy.Harriet Klausner

UP, UP, AND AWAY!

Carol Higgins Clark's POPPED takes us on a fast, fun, action-packed ride through the gritty, gaudy streets of Las Vegas, then it lifts us up, up, and away to a cliffhanger in the New Mexico skies. Ms. Clark's vivid imagination and effortless writing style breathe life into the delightfully wacky assemblage of characters that inhabit the pages of this clever mystery. From cover to cover, a delightful read.
