The Hobo Philosopher

The Vietnam era is not history to me, it was my life. During those turbulent times, I was not aware of I. F. Stone - I had never heard of him. He was a "radical" journalist. In reading about the famous journalist Walter Lippmann it was interesting to discover that this famous and influential journalist was wrong as often as he was right. In this book by I.F. Stone, this not so famous radical journalist, was right on every suspicion, accusation, and premise. It is hard to believe. And here I am providing the first review of this book. I have decided that I must read more books by Mr. Stone. As in this day and age there are many unsung heroes like William Greider who have been writing books for years telling America what would happen if they kept on the same path. My guess is that Mr. Greider like I.F. Stone will never be recognized as a hero of truth, justice and the American way. They just write their books and then disappear. It is a shame. I am going to try and read as many books by I.F. Stone as I can find. I have the feeling that I will be a lot closer to realizing a true history of the American past when I finish. I am also wondering about the legacy of John Kennith Galbraith. I have read five or six of his books and he is the economist that should have been listened to - and he didn't win a Nobel Prize. Books written by Richard Noble - The Hobo Philosopher: "Hobo-ing America: A Workingman's Tour of the U.S.A.." "A Summer with Charlie" "A Little Something: Poetry and Prose" "Honor Thy Father and Thy Mother" "The Eastpointer" Selections from award winning column.
