Martin Hintz has an uncanny ability to thoroughly explain Poland's history, economics, and attitudes. Correctly assuming that the reader may not understand certain words related to the polish way of life, the author presents a concise explanation. I found it appropriate for Mr. Hintz to quite pointedly address the never-ending positive will of those of Polish decent, especially in light of some of the oppressions that history has bestowed upon Poland. The photography in this work is marvelous. Large clear shots capture the brilliant colors of the dress of the people. This book would make a perfect companion for an airplane trip as it is quite short, and an easy read. For a different perspective, I suggest James Michener's "Pilgrimage: A Memoir of Poland and Rome".
