Bright and Lively Poetry Collection

This is an ecclectic collection of children's poems and rhymes. The sophistication of the poems range from simple folk sayings to Shakespeare. The book contains several sections, each illustrated by a different illustrator. The pictures are all lively and colorful and there are illustrations on every page. There is an introduction and forward about the virtues of memorizing poetry. In the back are indices of titles, first lines, and authors. I felt like the book lacked continuity and was a little too busy, but it might be a good first poetry collection for the reluctant poetry reader.
