This is the third book of Jonathan's poems, following his last books "Bad Habits-Sailing Poetry" and "Poems from the Stream". Poems from the Ebbing Tide has three loose sections, the first covers life, love and adventure. The second section covers poems for young adults. The third covers poetry for sailors. The title comes from the way the poems come to Jonathan in the morning. Like all ebb tidal flows, the tide changes and brings different items out to sea, sometime gently and sometimes in a flood. Sometimes, it brings nothing. He tries to capture these poems, and write them down as they pass him, out into that wide blue Ocean. Like anything else, it's best to read a few at a time, and come back later to more. Poetry does not solve the world problems, an empty stomach, stops wars. But I believe, that sometimes it reminds us, that life is more than the pursuit of food, gold and sex.
