ISBN 0785351868 - There are literally thousands of board books out there, probably hundreds focused on teaching counting, shapes, colors, and general concepts to toddlers. This is one of the few I've come across that teach manners (a slightly better one is Peas and Thank You! (Big Idea Books® / VeggieTales®)). "My Little Book of Manners" is a series and one worth looking into. On ten pages, with rhyming text, author Lora Kalkman reminds children to say please by using the word frequently. From "Can you please come out to play?" to "And, please, would you kiss me goodnight?", the cute little animal characters go through their day with their best manners on display. Michele Ackerman's illustrations are adorable; although I find them a little too pastel for my taste, the characters couldn't get any cuter. There are nice details, but not a lot of them, which keeps them from distracting from the text. I can't think of a child in the world who wouldn't benefit from a polishing of their manners and this series will reinforce them without seeming to - the best way of all to learn! - AnnaLovesBooks
