Each cheerful, bouncy verse is accompanied by an elaborately frames reproduction of Nister's 19th-century paintings depicting children of the Victorian era. . . .--School Library Journal. Full-color illustrations.
My daughter, who is two, loves this Victorian-era book, and others by the same author. The themes of this one are babies, pets, and old-fashioned pastimes. On each left-hand page, there is a poem of several stanzas and two or three black-and-white pictures. On each right-hand page, there is a louvered color picture with a quatrain that has a line in it telling when to pull the tab. After the tab is pulled, the picture changes to a different one.
